Manchester City are reportedly interested in signing Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney, and could present the Gunners with the ideal trade opportunity, including Oleksandr Zinchenko.
Reports this week claim that Tierney, 25, has been added to City’s shortlist as they look to bring in a left-back this summer. Perhaps a surprise, given the Scottish star’s proneness to injury during his time in London.
Tierney joined Arsenal from Celtic in the summer of 2019 but has only worn the Arsenal shirt 86 times. An average of less than 30 games per season. But that hasn’t stopped City from showing interest in Tierney, the £25m (BBC) ace.
Arsenal will not want to lose Tierney, a player who is seen as one of the club’s leaders. However, Manchester City have the opportunity to tempt Arsenal into a move by offering them a direct exchange deal.
Manchester City interested in Tierney: Ideal trade opportunity
Reports claim that Arsenal want to sign Ukrainian international Zinchenko. The Gunners are keen to land the City defender as they look to bring in a left-back of their own. Zinchenko can also play in midfield.
Clearly Manchester City want to replace Zinchenko on the left flank and Pep Guardiola believes the Scotland international suits his team’s style of play. Similarly, Arsenal want Zinchenko to cover for Tierney, who is regularly injured.
Nuno Tavares has not convinced and Zinchenko could enter the Emirates. The duo is likely to be worth a similar fee. Both are 25 years old, both are very attacking left backs of similar quality.
Given that both players are similar, and Arsenal and City both want the other’s player, surely a direct swap deal could be on the cards. Fans of either club will argue that the other deserves some cash, but there is a chance of a trade.
