A mother’s heart breaks when she sees that her unborn child’s health is affected, much less if it is in critical condition and has to be rushed to hospital.
More recently, citing a news report, a four-year-old boy was in critical condition due to drug content in his body and is currently receiving treatment in hospital.
The victim who lives in Kampung Sri Bintang, Kuala Krai, was taken to Kuala Krai (HKK) Hospital yesterday at 5am by her mother for treatment before the hospital informed the police.
Acting Kelantan Police Chief Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun said the victim was taken to hospital in critical condition and as soon as the examination was carried out, it was found that there was methamphetamine in his body.
“Investigations have found that the boy is believed to have been taken by his uncle somewhere and it has not yet been determined whether the victim was given drugs or left exposed to the banned substance before it was inserted into the body.
“After that, the victim’s 30-year-old uncle was arrested at 10 p.m. yesterday and during questioning, the suspect admitted taking his nephew somewhere but denied giving him drugs,” he said during a press conference at the Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK) here today.
Muhamad Zaki said the victim, who is still in serious condition, is being treated at Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital (HRPZ II) and his party is awaiting further reports.
He said test results on the suspect found he tested positive for methamphetamine and also had three drug-related histories.
“An application for remand custody to assist the investigation will be made today in accordance with Section 31(1)(a) of the Children’s Act 2001,” it said.
Previously, Muhamad Zaki officiated the Monthly Assembly at the IPK complex and delivered letters of thanks to the officers and members who excelled in their duties.
