“A fight broke out between two rival student gangs at a train station in Chennai and one of the gangs started throwing stones at a train, causing passengers to panic on Monday.

The rivalry between the students of Pachaiyappa’s College and Presidency College has turned ugly on several occasions.

On Monday, students from the two universities clashed once again near the Perambur railway station.

The incident took place when students from Presidency College were traveling on the Thirupathy Express and students from Pachaiyappa’s College were traveling on the train headed for Arakkonam.

The Presidency College students allegedly behaved in an unruly manner, forcing passengers to complain and stop the train.

They then got out and started throwing stones at the train traveling towards Arokkanam, targeting Pachaiyappa’s college students, prompting the train driver to stop the train. Then, a fight broke out between the two groups.

The incident was recorded by some passengers who panicked from the throwing of stones.

Sembiam police launched an investigation and, based on the video, detained 15 Presidency College students for questioning.

Further investigations are underway.” – India today
