NO even a limited sports schedule in Season 84 could prevent the University of Santo Tomas from winning a record 45th overall UAAP championship.

The Growling Tigers student-athletes extended their reign into season five by racking up 84 points in the compact eight-event competition that ended Tuesday night.

UST edged out National University, which despite a dominant campaign in women’s volleyball that ended a 65-year championship drought, fell short as it could only muster 81 points.

The Tigers came out victorious in men’s 3×3 basketball, men’s beach volleyball, poomsae and men’s chess, and placed second in women’s 3×3 basketball.

In addition to winning gold in women’s volleyball, the Bulldogs captured titles in women’s 3×3 basketball and women’s chess, while posting runner-up finishes in men’s beach volleyball and poomsae.
